Dart Mats & Oches

The standard throwing distance for steel tip darts is 2.37 metres from the face of the board. Harrows dart mats are pre-marked with the oche position, so once you fix your board at the right height, the mat handles the distance for you. No measuring tape required every time you play.

It is recommended. Darts that miss the board or fall out can chip and scratch hard floors over time. A mat also cushions your landing area and protects the dart tips from damage. Beyond that, having a fixed oche makes your practice more consistent and is closer to playing in a real match environment.

You need a mat that reaches from the board to at least the throwing line, which is 2.37 metres. Our mats are designed with this in mind and include extra length at the oche end so you have a comfortable standing area. Measure the space in your room before buying to make sure your mat fits the layout.

The oche is the name for the throwing line itself. A dart mat is the physical mat that sits beneath your feet, and most will have the oche marked directly on to it. Some setups use a standalone oche strip or raiseable oche block instead of a full mat. Both serve the same purpose of marking a consistent throwing position. You can purchase an oche here.
